Behind the glam…what most do not know about Marlen is that she is a kind, funny, sharp witted woman. Among other charities she worked to launch the Fur Ball for the Ottawa Humane Society which eventually raised hundreds of thousands.
Behind the scenes she and her husband were haunted by charities and causes. One of the local Cowpland houses caused a flurry of angst in sleepy Ottawa and I still remember telling the tale of the 10M dollar mansion on a friends patio in San Diego…He looked at me and laughed…. Apparently we were a contender for the first Canadian instalment of The Real Housewives, the reality franchise that follows leisure-class ladies shopping, partying and bickering like the world is going to end.

The local media personality and former Sun dating columnist was a society pages regular and her high profile divorce from entrepreneur Michael Potter was the talk of the town.
Although she did reminisce on the tech boom, when Ottawa had a larger social scene. Jefferson left and Mackinnon have cemented their spots in Ottawa's fashion industry over the last decade. Jefferson and Mackinnon work in the Ottawa-Toronto-Montreal triangle most of the time. They try to bring home elements of the fashion scene they experience in New York.
